Two MCC schools secured bids to join the Fab Four of the NAIA men's and women's national basketball championships. Saint Francis is advancing to its first semifinal in school history on the men's side while the Indiana Wesleyan women are making their second trip.
 
The No. 15 Cougars battled No. 10 Cornerstone which began as a neck-and-neck battle before Cornerstone ended the half on a 21-12 run to take a nine point lead into intermission. However, USF responded, led by Austin Leisure's 13-point second half outburst, to take the 79-73 win. Saint Francis will take on defending champion Oklahoma Wesleyan on Monday at 9 p.m. EST for the right to play in the national title game. [Complete Game Recap]

And then there were three...Heading into the Elite Eight of the men's and women's NAIA basketball championships, three MCC representatives advanced on the third day of competition.
 
Saint Francis and Indiana Wesleyan move on for the men in Point Lookout, Mo., while the Lady Wildcats are still alive in Sioux City, Iowa. Spring Arbor and Bethel both bowed out on the men's side.
 
The Lady Wildcats won yet another defensive battle topping Black Hills State 58-50 for their first trip to the Elight Eight since the 2007 National Championship season. It's the programs third appearance in the quarterfinals. Junior Elaine Hessel led all scorers with 22 points including 10-10 from the foul line. IWU will play at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday. In day two of first round action at the men's and women's NAIA national basketball championships, the two men's squads advanced while the two women's squads bowed out leaving the MCC with five representatives in the sweet sixteens.
 
On the men's side, Spring Arbor recorded the second biggest upset at Point Lookout, Mo., thus far while Indiana Wesleyan dominated its first round opponent. On the women's side, Huntington and Taylor each fell to higher seeded opponents

Four of the eight teams representing the Mid-Central College Conference at the NAIA men's and women's basketball national championships were in action on Wednesday, day one of the seven-day event.
 
Bethel and Saint Francis each advanced to the Sweet 16 on the men's side in Point Lookout, Mo., while Indiana Wesleyan dominated in the women's tournament in Sioux City, Iowa. The USF women were the lone casualty on the day.
