IWU beat No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson by a 3-1 margin

MARION, Ind. -- A battle of NAIA top-10 women's soccer programs ended at Wildcat Field with host Indiana Wesleyan University triumphant over Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College by a 3-1 score on Tuesday night.

No. 10-ranked Indiana Wesleyan answered No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson's goal in the 13th minute with three unanswered goals for the huge early season victory.

Following a 12-month hiatus from his part-time role as Mid-Central College Conference sports information director, Taylor University Sports Information Director Eric Smith has returned to assist MCC Commissioner J.D. Collins in directing the league's public relations efforts.

Smith previously served in the position during the 2008-09 academic year before Bret Burchard took over in 2009. Burchard has since departed to take a position as basketball communications manager with the NBA's Phoenix Suns and basketball communications manager with the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA.

The Spring Arbor and Indiana Wesleyan women's cross country teams are right back where they were to end the 2009 season--in the NAIA Women's Cross Country Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
The Cougars dropped eight spots from their final 2009 ranking to No. 18 in this year's preseason poll, but SAU still checks in as the top MCC team in the ratings.

Two MCC men's cross country squads have received votes in the NAIA Men's Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Wednesday.
 
Indiana Wesleyan, picked as the top team to open the season in the MCC, was the second team in the receiving votes section with 56 votes. Spring Arbor also makes an appearance with 6 votes.

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen College Athletic Department is pleased that former Franklin College (Ind.) and Bluffton University (Ohio) assistant coach Eric Screeton will begin duties as the Maple Leafs Head Baseball Coach this week.

Screeton becomes the 10th head coach in the more than 50-year history of the Goshen Baseball Program and succeeds Josh Keister, who resigned last month to take an administrative role as the director of Goshen's Recreation-Fitness Center.
