Walker averaged 22.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.KANSAS CITY, Mo. - William Walker of Bethel (Ind.)
has been selected as the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of
the Week for the week of Feb. 11-17. This award is the final player of
the week for the 2007-08 season.
Walker, a 6-6 junior forward from Michigan City, Ind.,
hit for two double-doubles while helping the Pilots win twice on the
road in Mid-Central College Conference play. Against Indiana Wesleyan,
he gathered a season-best 19 rebounds to go along with 29 points. In
the following game against St. Francis (Ind.), Walker went for 16 points and 10 rebounds, his 18th double-double of the year. He added three steals, two blocks and two assists while shooting 5-of-8 (.625) from the field.
For
the week, he shot 57 percent (17-of-30) overall and 10-of-12 (.833)
from the charity stripe. On the season, he currently holds a 24-game
scoring streak over 10 points.
In NAIA statistical rankings, Walker is the in the Top 40 in five categories. He ranks near the top in rebounding (4th - 10.5 rpg) and field goal percentage (6th - .607). For more information on the NAIA statistical leaders, click here.
