MARION, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team spent last Saturday in the Marion community as they worked on a house with Habitat for Humanity.

Over 80 hours of work were donated as 20 members of the women's soccer team worked for four hours. The team took the day off from preseason training the day after two workouts and a scrimmage to help a family in need.

"The girls were very excited to help this family," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Dr. John Bratcher. "They feel like they were able to make a difference in somebody's life and want the opportunity to help in the community again. It was a great experience for our team."

The Wildcats assisted on a house that is a home for a family of 10.

Members of the team worked on the inside and outside of the house. They painted walls, trimmed, caulked and built shelves for the closets. Outside of the house, the women's soccer team painted a porch and worked on the lawn.

In addition to the work on the house, some Wildcats helped Habitat for Humanity by reorganizing their warehouse.

Indiana Wesleyan opens the season at home with a 7 p.m. kick-off on Monday, September 1, as the Wildcats host two-time NAIA champion Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College.
