MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University senior forward Joel Trainer was honored as a NAIA Men's Soccer All-American Honorable Mention for his stellar play during the 2008 season.

"Joel Trainer is very deserving of this All-American honor," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Mark Castro. "I am extremely proud of him."

The Colorado Springs, Colorado native led the Wildcats to the program's first ever NCCAA National Championship where he was named Tournament Most Valuable Player. IWU finished the season at 18-8-0.

Trainer led Indiana Wesleyan in all three offensive categories. He ended the season with 19 goals, 13 assists and 51 points.

"Joel has been one of the best captains I have ever coached," said Castro. "His passion for the game of soccer and to be the best is what helped him earn this prestigious award."
