MARION, Ind. -- Junior defender Rebecca Foulk and sophomore forward Megan Marshall of the Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team have been named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention for the 2008 season.
The duo helped guide the Wildcats to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round with a date against defending national champion Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. IWU ended their season with a 14-3-1 mark and a final NAIA ranking of No. 23.
Foulk made the switch from marking back to sweeper just before the season started. Foulk
and the defense limited opponents to 15 goals this season (0.8 goals per match), including nine shutouts. The honor is the first in her career.
"Reba did an excellent job making the switch to sweeper at such a late time in the preseason," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Dr. John Bratcher. "She did a wonderful job organizing the defense and leading the team."
The Naperville, Illinois native has also been honored as the Mid-Central College Conference Defender of the Year while being named MCC All-Conference.
Marshall also earns the recognition for the first time. The Elgin, Illinois native led the Wildcats with 15 goals and 36 points. She was second on the team with six assists.
"There is so much to say about Megan. It is a well deserved honor for her," said Bratcher. "Megan has been named All-Conference this year and last and has now been named All-American. She is definitely progressing in her soccer career and ability."
Last month, Marshall was selected to the MCC All-Conference team for the second time in her career.
