Davenport University (Mich.) held Huntington College to 34 percent shooting from the field in a 72-56 defeat of the Foresters in the second round of the 2009 NAIA Div. II National Basketball Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Panthers held a 34-26 advantage before Ryleigh Carr hit a deep three at the buzzer to cut the Davenport lead to 34-29 at halftime. Davenport out rebound Huntington 45-36 and forced the Foresters into 23 turnovers. The Panthers shot just 38.6 percent from the field in the game including hitting on just 8-of-30 three point attempts.

Davenport was led offensively by Kallie Benike with 18 points while Kristi Boehm chipped in with 13 points. Huntington was led by Jenna Donaldson with 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

With the victory Davenport moves into the round of eight to take on the Sterling versus Northwestern winner at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. Huntington ends their season with a record of 25-7.
