Huntington won their first MCC men's golf championship since 1991.

PERU, Ind.-Huntington University used a final round 6-over 294 to surpass day one leader Indiana Wesleyan to win the 2009 Mid-Central College Conference Golf Championships at Rock Hollow Golf Course by five strokes.


With the tournament championship, Huntington also secures the conference's automatic bid to the 2009 NAIA National Championships, held May 19-22 in Silvis, Illinois, at the TPC Deere Run.

Individually, Bethel's Jon Bonfiglio brought home medalist honors after winning a playoff with Indiana Wesleyan's Austin Conroy.  The two were deadlocked at a 6-over 222 following three rounds of regulation play. 

Huntington captured their first conference golf title since 1991 with a three-round combined score of 49-over 913 (317-302-294) versus Indiana Wesleyan's 54-over 918 (308-306-304).  Bethel (305-330-306=941) finished third ahead of Spring Arbor (320-311-315=946) in fourth place.  Marian, Saint Francis, Grace, Taylor, and Goshen rounded out the final five spots.
