CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Marian University freshman Paola Usina (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) won the women's singles titleat the 2009 Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday morning in Cedarville, Ohio.
She becomes the first women's player in Marian University history to earn the ITA Midwest Regional singles championship.
Usina, who plays at No. 1 singles for the Knights, defeated Germania Bedon from Taylor University in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, to win her first ITA regional championship.
The win clinched Usina a spot at the 2009 ITA Small College Championships at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., on October 15-18.
