The Bethel College men's soccer team suffered their only loss of the season on Saturday night at the hands of the No. 16 seeded Bellevue University Bruins by the final score of 2-0 in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.

Despite ten shots by each side in the first half, neither team was able to find the back of the net through the first 45:00 minutes of play.Steady goal keeping on each side and several near misses on scoring opportunities kept the match scoreless heading into the locker room.

The Bruins wasted little time to start the second half as Graeme Eaglesham knocked in a goal from fifteen yards out at the 53 minute mark after Bellevue made a steal on the throw in.

Still re-grouping from the previous goal, the Pilots were caught off guard on another Bellevue break away and the Bruins knocked their second goal of the match less than a minute later.

This time, Mark Health-Preston knocked the ball past Bethel goal keeper Cody Troyer as he came out to play the ball.

The Pilots managed eight shots in the second half, as much of final 45:00 minutes was played on the Bellevue side of the field, but Bethel was unable to get the ball past Bruins goal keeper Sebastian Narvaez and Bellevue held on for the 2-0 victory.

Bellevue advances with a 14-3-1 record to the NAIA National Championship Final Site while the Pilots conclude the season with an 18-1-1 record.
