After a scoreless first half where third-seeded Judson dominated ball possession, the Lady Eagles (13-6-3) broke through in the second half with a goal off a corner kick in the 63rd minute.
"We came out and worked really hard today," said head coach Michael Voss. "We had some great looks at goal. We just did not convert any of them."
Judson took advantage of the playing conditions and kept the ball on Grace's side of the field the entire first half with the wind at their back. But when the teams switched sides for the second half, Grace, the No. 6 seed, still struggled to penetrate the Judson defense and couldn't produce the equalizer with the wind on their side.
Judson outshot the Lady Lancers (14-5-2) 14-5 on the day. Both teams had five corner kicks, and Grace had nine fouls to Judson's 11.
"Defensively, we had a strong performance, and I thought we shut down their attack effectively," Voss continued. "We need to focus on our possession dimension of our attacking futbol."
Grace plays Palm Beach Atlantic at 12 p.m. tomorrow while Judson goes on to face The Master's College. With the loss, Grace can finish fifth in the tournament at best, but the team needs to win on both Thursday and Saturday.
