Spring Arbor University Athletics is once again partnering with the Parma-Spring Arbor Lions Club to help needy families in the Jackson community by hosting a canned food drive on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
The NAIA No. 22 ranked Spring Arbor University men's basketball team will be taking on cross-town rival Albion College in a 7 p.m. showdown. In place of charging admission, SAU will be collecting non-perishable canned food donations for spectator entrance to the event.
This will be the second time that Spring Arbor University has hosted the event, with the first being two years ago when the Britons came to campus. The two teams compete annually with Spring Arbor edging Albion 70-60 December 6 of last year.
"It's always a fun game to play against such a longtime rival like Albion College, but to be able to help people in need at the same time is something that transcends competition and helps us demonstrate to our student athletes what is really important in life," commented SAU head coach Ryan Cottingham.
