Taylor head coach Tena Krause won her 400th game at the helm of the Taylor University women's basketball program on Wednesday night when her 10th-ranked Lady Trojans (11-2, 3-0) pulled out a tight 62-59 victory over IU-Southeast in the Taylor Holiday Classic.

In her 21st year on the bench with the Lady Trojans, Krause realizes that many people were involved in the 400 victories. "The 400 wins is a reflection of the quality of the women who have come through this program. We have been truly blessed by those who have chosen to join our program. They are the ones on the floor playing, while I have the pleasure of being on the bench and watching them perform."

Indeed, many of her alums were in the bleachers of Odle Arena for the landmark victory.

On this night, junior Allison Reece stepped up to produce a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while leading the Lady Trojans to a tough win. The first half featured five lead changes and five ties with TU holding a slim 23-22 lead as the team went to the locker room.

IU Southeast put on a short 7-0 run early in the second stanza to take a 41-38 lead, but TU responded by going on an 8-0 run of their own to stake a 46-41 margin.

Things got tight in the final minute when the Grenadiers' Brianne Miles nailed a three-pointer to narrow the gap to just one point at 60-59 with 00:17 on the clock.

Reece gave the Lady Trojans a bit of breathing room by drilling two free throws with only nine seconds remaining and the defense held their ground to stop IU-Southeast's last gasp attempt.

Nellie Eskew and Tess Rudolph each added ten points, while Morgan McLeish chipped in nine points and grabbed six boards.

Krause was very pleased with her squad's effort. "This was a tough game, and I thought we did a great job of responding to their style of play. Allison showed her leadership abilities throughout the second half, and our younger players continue to play well under pressure."

Indiana Tech handed Huntington a 48-44 loss in the first game of the night. Taylor will face Indiana Tech at 2:00 pm on Thursday afternoon following the Huntington/IU-Southeast game which begins at noon.
