The event will raise funds for the V Foundation for cancer research. Jim Valvano’s motto “Don’t give up…don’t ever give up”® rings through the sports world and has been used by many teams over the years. The funds raised will be bench marked for pancreatic cancer this year since that has touched our program directly. USF freshman Michelle Kern has been dealing with the effects of pancreatic cancer for the past year. Michelle’s father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last February and is battling through Chemotherapy and radiation. Only 23% of people diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer survive the first year and only 4% reach 5 years. He is fighting and is determined to change the percentages!
“We are really excited about this year’s schedule and teams who are participating”, USF Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ken Nuber says. “Cancer has touch everyone’s life in some way and the V foundation is the leader in cancer research. We are hoping to raise awareness through this event and show that USF cares”.
