
MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball junior guard Kayla Thompson drained a 3-point basket early in the second half against Bethel (Ind.) College on Wednesday evening to reach 1,000 career points.
The Indianapolis, Indiana native has been a steady presence in the Wildcat lineup since coming to campus as a freshman in the 2007-08 season. She has averaged more than 10 points per contest during her freshman and sophomore seasons. Thompson scored 353 points in her rookie campaign and 351 points a season ago.
Thompson is currently second on Indiana Wesleyan with 12.5 points per game and 299 total points. She is on pace to shoot over 40.0-percent from the 3-point line for the second consecutive season.
In addition to her scoring prowess, Thompson is just 10 assists shy of the program's top-10 in career assists with 316 and is on pace to finish in the top-20 in career rebounds.
For the season Thompson is currently averaging 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals for No. 7-ranked Indiana Wesleyan.
