Ryne Lightfoot became the tenth player in Bethel basketball history to score 2,000 career points after scoring 21 points in the Pilots' convincing 95-68 victory over No. 10 ranked University of Saint Francis on Saturday afternoon.

The win secured a second place finish in the always tough MCC for the Pilots, but it also helped secure Lightfoot's place in the illustrious history of Bethel basketball.

Ryne's 2,011 career points places him tenth on Bethel's all-time scoring list just ahead of former NAIA All-Americans Von Gilbert and Ryan Bales.

Not only a great scorer, Lightfoot also been a distributor of the ball during his Bethel career. Lightfoot led the MCC in assists this season with 145. His 685 career assist places him fifth on Bethel's all-time list.

"Scoring over 2,000 points and having over 600 assists puts him in an elite group of players," said Bethel head coach Mike Lightfoot. "He has led our team for four years and has made his teammates better. He is the heart and soul of our team. Ryne has found ways to improve as a basketball player every year. Going into his senior year of post season play he has an outstanding record of 16-3. That is tough to beat."

After achieving career milestones this past weekend, Ryne now has his sights set on helping his team earn a third consecutive trip to the NAIA National Championship. Lightfoot and the Pilots host Marian University in the first round of the Mid-Central College Conference tournament starting Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
